Jean Romie, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, in Columbus, Indiana.

Born Nov. 30, 1927, in Ripley County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Elmer and Zelphia (Jackson) Pickett. 

Jean is survived by her daughter, Sandy Wright, and her husband, Dave; her son, Bruce Romie, and his wife, Dawn; and former daughter-in-law, Darlynn Tucker, and her husband, Doug; grandchildren, Carisa Sexton (husband, Brian), Rachel Taul, Stacy Brown (husband, Jeff), Brad Wright (wife, Missy), Bruce Romie II, Keysha Nordhoff (husband, Adam), Nick Romie, Alec Romie and Patrick Romie; stepgrandkids, Kenny Sexton and Sam Call (husband, Josh); great-grandkids, Madison, Hannah, Cloe and Brad Wright Jr., Sydney and Avery Brown, Vincent Calvano and Raylan Nordhoff, and Alaina Romie; and stepgreat-great grandkids, Jacey and Chase Call.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Justin Jackson, twin brother, Eugene Pickett, Mahlom Pickett and Wendell Pickett; and her daughter, Yvonne Jarvis.

Jean, a Holton High School graduate, retired from U.S. Shoe in Osgood, Indiana, and worked at Williams Industries and Walmart in Shelbyville, Indiana. She was a member of the Holton Christian Church.

Jean enjoyed sitting outside on the deck at her Shelbyville home, baking pies and birthday cakes for her grandkids, and spending time with friends and family. Her greatest joy was playing and spending time with her best two pals, Sydney and Avery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robb Barlow officiating.

Burial will be at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens & Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Funeral directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Jean Romie.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
