Jannie O’Willa Marie Macklin, 97, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday Oct 24th 2017.

She was born on March 20, 1920 in Marked Tree, Arkansas to Tom and Minnie Byrd. She spent much of her young life traveling, farming, and making memories with her parents and 7 siblings..

She began her family when she married Joe Macklin on Oct 12, 1940.

Jannie, also known as, Mother, Mama, Mama Jane, Mama Jannie, and by a handful of other loving names will forever be remembered as the Matriarch with a heart of gold . She would do anything for anyone especially those in need. As good and kind as she was she was a spit fire when it came to protecting her loved ones, she once told a previous Mayor years ago after some issues going on in town “There are 3 things I have that you don’t mess with, 1 is my money cause I make it, 2 are my trees cause I planted them, and 3 are my kids, cause I had them, not necessarily in that order, but I’ll tear up Shelbyville”.

Jannie Macklin found joy in being a foster mother to many children throughout the years, she also loved cooking, baking, playing checkers, telling stories of her past (especially anything to do with her dad), and being surrounded by her large family and friends.

She is survived in death by her children: Tommy MacklinHenry MacklinDoris MacklinRoland MacklinJames MacklinBrenda BrownBettye MacklinTheresa MacklinJosh MacklinJeramy MacklinJamie MacklinZip Macklin and her Grandchildren: Michelle Sam ,Ronny McDuffeyChris Macklin,Laurie GoldenLinda SmithLarry PhillipsLisa Rodriguez ,Mike PhillipsTommy Macklin JrSamantha MacklinJane BergerKaren MacklinKeisha MacklinLaTasha MacklinTavin MacklinGreg HaskinsLisa HaskinsStephanie HaskinsWillandra MaloneRichard Brown Jr., Justin BrownKeyen MacklinRicca MacklinMariaha MacklinMiles MacklinTruth MacklinPrince Macklin and Many Great and Great-Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life and visitation from 5-8pm Friday Oct 27th at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service. 703 S. Harrison St. Shelbyville In.

Jannie’s Celebration of Life Homegoing will be Saturday Oct 28th at 1pm at the funeral home. The burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Funeral directors Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for the Macklin family.

Macklin Family,
My heart goes out to all of you. Mama Jannie was such a wonderful person and was loved by all. She took you into her house and next thing you knew you are family to her and there was nothing she wouldn't do for her friends and family. The matriarch lead such a great example of what a Momma does for their family.I will never forget the times we got to experience with her and she'll hold a special place in my families heart! We love you Momma Fly high with the Angels <3 The Taylor's

So sorry for your loss.. She was a true angel. Miss Jannie will put a smile on my face whenever I think of her. I remember her walking down the street with 4-5 kids by her side with a big stick just in case she ran into a dog.. Ole Ms Jannie will be missed..

Roland and the Macklin family, please accept my condolences for your loss. I remember your mother when George and I went to visit. There were always happy children laughing and playing. I didn't learn of her death until today or I certainly would have attended. God be with you at this grieving time.
