Geneva M. Kaster, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully Monday, October 23, 2017 at Major Hospital, with her family at her side.
Born June 7, 1924 in Mannsville, KY., she was the daughter of Jesse H. Spurling and Mayme (Gribbons) Spurling.
She married Charles “Chuck” Kaster in May of 1950 and he preceded her in death August 14, 1996.
Mrs. Kaster is survived by her daughter, Candice Yocum, Indianapolis, son-in-law, Richard Yocum, grandson, Dereck F. Yocum, Indianapolis, brother, Wm. Hurshal Spurling, S. Carolina, sisters, Jeanetta “Jet” K. (Ned) Fitz, Shelbyville, Ina Fern (Billy) Fisher, VA, Gloria Jean (Arny) Halber, FL, and several cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, infant daughter, Bevery Ann Stafford, brothers, JC Spurling, Henry L. Spurling and Don D. Spurling, her dog, Tammy and cat, Fan.
Mrs. Kaster retired from Cinch as an edge connector. She was a member of Hope’s Point Baptist Church.
She loved birds, listening, playing and dancing to music. Her favorite shows were Gunsmoke, Laramie, and Dancing With The Stars.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Ralph Polston and Dave Humphries officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Kaster’s honor to Shelby Senior Services.
