Donald E. Kendall, 73, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 at his residence.

Born September 2, 1944 in Fairland, IN, he was the son of Carl and Hester (Chadwick) Kendall.  He married Barbara Brooks on April 10, 1965, and she survives.

He is also survived by his son, Jeffrey (Annette) Kendall of Ottawa, Ohio, daughter, Julie (Zach) Phelps of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Jordan Corbitt, Tyler (Stacy) Corbitt, Colin Phelps, Connor Phelps, Kaylie Phelps, great-grandchild, Jayla Corbitt, brother David (Anita) Kendall, and sisters, Janet (Dale) Waters and Carolyn Hedge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Louise Browning.

Mr. Kendall retired in 2009 as President of Triumph Fabrication, formerly known as KT Corporation, where he was employed for more than 31 years.

Mr. Kendall was a very dedicated husband and caregiver to his beloved wife.  He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  One of his greatest enjoyments was watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. 

He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served on the board of trustees and the finance committee.  He was also very active in the community serving as a board member of the Blue River Foundation and Family Service and Prevention Program.  He was a life member of the NRA.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, October 13 from 9 to 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 34 West Washington St., Shelbyville, IN, 46176.  The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday with Reverend Colin Cress and Reverend Robert Campbell officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.

Funeral directors Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Kendall.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Don's children and their families. I worked with Don for many years at K-T Corporation and was friends with him and Barb. He was a great guy and very kind, fair and honest person.

Well Don I know that you are in a glorious place. So sorry that I wasn’t Able to drive up there the past few years as I had planned a round of golf would have been fun.
We did have some good times and I miss those times.
