Betty J. Carew Karstens, 86, of Rushville, IN passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Flat Rock River Lodge, Rushville, IN.

Born January 22, 1931 in Carrolton, KY, she was the daughter of Oscar Perkins and Dorothy Perkins.

Betty married Maurice Carew and he preceded her in death. She then married Lloyd Karstens and he also preceded her in death.

Betty is survived by her children,James (Sherri) Stone, FL, Gary (Vicki) Carew, FL, Russell Carew, Anderson, IN, , grandchildren, Tanya Stone, Ryan Stone, Tony Carew, Michael Carew and Adam Carew, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Lorinda Carew and Norma Carew, brothers-in-law, Wilbur Carew and Gerald Carew and niece, Sandy Carew.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and spouses.

Betty attended Bible Holiness Church.

She was a lifelong homemaker and enjoyed all aspects of taking care of her family. Her greatest pleasures were spending time with family and friends. Betty will always be remembered for the love and compassion she showed to others.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 07, 2017 from 10:00 AM to10:30 AM at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Reverend Joseph Smith officiating.

Memorial donations in honor of Betty may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mrs. Karstens.
