Kenneth Aaron Lovitt, 72, of Shelbyville died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Major Hospital.

Born April 24, 1938, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Clyde and Lucille (Merritt) Lovitt. He married Joy Thurston on Sept. 26, 1958, and she survives.

Other survivors include a son, Rob Lovitt of Shelbyville; daughters, Beth (husband, Tim) Crouch and Chris Lovitt, both of Shelbyville; brothers, William “Bill” (wife, Jean) Lovitt and Rick (wife, Kathy) Lovitt, both of Shelbyville; sister, Carolyn (husband, Hal) Rohm of Taylorsville; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dan Lovitt.

Mr. Lovitt was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving four years.

He was part-owner and operator of K & R Plumbing for 38 years.

Mr. Lovitt was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 2695; American Legion Post No. 70; and associate member of the Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed growing orchids.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 118 W. Washington St.

Celebration of life services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Graveside military rites will be conducted at Heroes of Honor & Glory veterans section of Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Matthew 25:35 Food Pantry at First Christian Church, 118 W. Washington St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Arrangements were entrusted to Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.
