Bruce David Tackett, 69, of Shelbyville died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at his home.

Born June 22, 1941, in Winchester, Ky., he was the son of George and Laurine (Willoughby) Tackett. He married Anna Washburn, and she survives.

Other survivors include his children, Darrell (wife, Stephanie) Tackett of Indianapolis, Julie (husband, Todd) Bass of Madison, David (wife, Trisha) Tackett, Mark (wife, Tiffany) Tackett, John Tackett and Jennifer Tackett, all of Shelbyville; sister, Wanda Faye York of Deputy; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ernest "Pete" Tackett and George Tackett.

Mr. Tackett had been a press operator for 38 years.

He liked the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs baseball teams and liked to fish.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Edwin Mohr officiating.

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kenneth Self Boys Club, 710 S. Miller St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to all. I worked with Dave at Westvaco from 1978 until he retired. Dave was a great co-worker and a good friend.
