David W. Wachtel, 57, of Shelbyville died Monday, Aug. 25, 2010, at his home.

Born Aug. 6, 1953, in Nevada, Mo., he was the son of Charles Roger Wachetel and Marie Lizzie.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Leonard Lizzie, of California; son, David W. Wachtel (fiancee, Raquel) of California; daughters, Magi Wachtel and Erin Wachtel, both of Franklin; brothers, Charles (wife, Kimberly) Wachtel Jr. of Arizona and Sam (wife, Melissa) Wachtel of Shelbyville; granddaughter, Lily Rain Wachtel; nieces, Maya Wachtel and Mara Wachtel; and caregiver, Kristina Hackworth (fiancee, Tony Pogue).

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Wachtel had been employed as a factory worker.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Dave's Family,

I'm very sorry to learn that Dave has passed. He was a brother and a good neighbor.

I'm living in Indy now and don't the get the paper. I forgot to check my computer for the information.
