Larry D. Brewer, 66, of Shelbyville died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born Dec. 22, 1943, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Harold D. and Mary (Swinehart) Brewer. He married Renee Herring on Sept. 12, 1995, and she survives.

Other survivors include his sons, David Brewer of Flat Rock and Tad Brewer of Fairland; daughters, Christy Shaw and Tammy Brewer, both of Virginia Beach, Va., Nancy Brewer Owens of Columbus, Betsy Davis and Amanda Thoman, both of Shelbyville; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Garen Brewer.

Mr. Brewer was employed as a manufacturing dispatcher.

He was an avid race car fan and collector.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens & Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shelby County, 425 E. Washington St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Larry and I went all through school together. We rode the same school bus in grade school and attended high school together. I remember him as a shy and quiet little boy in grade school. I'm sure his family will miss him.
