Ruby Marie Paxton, 88, of Edinburgh, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at Major Hospital.
Born in Shelby County on April 13, 1922, she was the daughter of Alva R. and Bertha (Sanders) Platt. She married Wilbur Goble, and he preceded her in death. She married Richard Paxton in 1947, and he also preceded her in death. Marvin Benson became her longtime friend and companion until his death in 2006.
Survivors include daughter, Sandy Bowers of St. Paul; sons Timothy (wife, Martha) Paxton of Flat Rock, Benji (wife, Connie) Paxton and Kyle Bowers, both of Shelbyville; sister, Becky Suits of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons; one great-great-grandson; two brothers; and three sisters.
Mrs. Paxton was employed as a factory worker by Wellman Industries for 20 years, retiring in 1986.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
A celebration of life ceremony will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
