Phyllis A. Sanders
Published: Friday, June 4, 2010 7:12 AM US/eastern Phyllis A. Sanders, 90, of Shelbyville died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Major Hospital.
Born May 1, 1920, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of William Melvin and Maude (Baker) Ash. She married Kenneth Sanders on Sept. 1, 1946, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1994.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Sanders had been employed with the state of Indiana in the vocational rehabilitation division before retiring in 1982.
She had attended Terhune Business College.
Mrs. Sanders was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 73 as well as a charter member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She also was a member of the Association of Retired Employees of the State of Indiana.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., with an Eastern Star service at 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
