George T. Lambert Jr., 87, died Sunday, Sept. 5, at Waldron HealthCare, Waldron.

He was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Shelbyville to George T. Lambert Sr. and Kathryn (Featherstone) Lambert. He married Ethel L. Bullard on April 30, 1943, and she preceded him in death Feb. 7, 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Hartleroad, Kokomo; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Jack Lambert, Shelbyville.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and a daughter, Carolyn Spencer.

Mr. Lambert was employed at WSVL local radio station until his retirement. He was then a greeter at Wal-Mart for several years. He was a board member for the Bears of Blue River Festival, SCUFFY and Shelbyville Central Schools.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

I remember George at wsvl when i was in high school-he used to do the basketball games at triton central high school and he would always speak to you if he was doing a commercial or wave and keep on announcing!!
Will always remember his big smile!!

I am sorry to hear of the passing of George. If I am not mistaken he was with WSRK fm, he did the first play by play of Golden Bears basketball games.Also he did the Nwes. I grewup hearing him everyday.He was a professional in every way.

I WORKED WITH GEORGE, WHEN HE WORKED AT WAL-MART. HE WAS A GENTLE MAN, SO EASY TO GET ALONG WITH. HE WILL BE SADLY MISSED.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments about grandpa. He was a wonderful man who never knew a stranger. We miss him so much. If anyone has a memory or photos I would love to hear them and share them.
