Delbert J. Mohr, 94, of Shelbyville died Friday, May 16, 2008, at Walker House Assisted Living.
Born May 27, 1913, in Jackson Township, Shelby County, he was the son of Grover and Susie (Landis) Mohr. He married Maybelle Talkington.
Survivors include his sons, Ronald (wife, Jerri) Mohr of Ocoee, Fla., Joe (wife, Patricia) Mohr and Gordon (wife, Joyce) Mohr, both of Shelbyville and Paul (wife, Rita) Mohr of Waldron; daughters, Jeleyne Cox and Linda Scott, both of Shelbyville, and Sara (husband, James) McCain of Franklin; 26 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis William Mohr; daughter, Madonna Mohr McDonald; brothers, Richard Mohr and Leonard Clark; sisters, Evelyn O'Brien and Leola Hitchcock, two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mohr was a farmer in Brandywine Township in his early life, however, he spent most of his years working as a carpenter.
He was a member of Bible Holiness Church.
Mr. Mohr was an avid traveler. He traveled extensively throughout South America, the United States and the Middle East.
He enjoyed gardening, reading and working as a handy-man into his last years.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
