Joseph Donald Cord passed away on August 16, 2008, in Newport, Oregon at the age of 88.
He was born on September 5, 1919, to Harry Lawrence Cord and Madge Ellen (Dwyer) Cord.
He is pre-deceased by brothers George Henry and his twin James Cord, and his sister, Mary Lou Clemmer.
He is survived by his Oregon family, The Leedy's, and his Indiana family of many nieces and nephews.
Joe served in WWII on the battleship, USS Mississippi as a Seaman 1st class (1941 to 1945). After the war years Joe enjoyed the adventures in riding some of the freight trains and traveled many of the states west of Indiana. Joe also worked for the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) for years, and helped survey the Alaskan Highway which is now called the Sterling Highway.
Joe has lived in Oregon since 1965. He started work with Mr. Don Leedy of Oregon in construction in 1968.
Joe was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending a bit of time with the slot machines in the casino.
There will be a private interment at St. Vincent's Cemetery in Shelbyville, IN at a later date.
