Dorothea E. Parker, 90, of Shelbyville died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Major Hospital.

Born May 12, 1918, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of William Jefferson and Vivian (Harrell) Eberhart. She married Clifford S. Parker on March 11, 1939, and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1998.

Survivors include her son, Donald E. "Doc" Parker of Edinburgh; daughters, Barbara E. Saleting of Millsboro, Del., and Beverly E. Curnutt of Midland, Mich.; mother-in-law, Edna S. Parker of Shelbyville; brother, William "Bud" Eberhart of Shelby County; sister, Lorene Scott of Shelby County; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Parker and her husband were lifelong farmers. She also was a homemaker, a collector and designer of porcelain dolls, and a seamstress; and served as Hendricks Township trustee for many years.

She was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church and Country Clubers Homemakers Club. She was a past member of Marietta Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Mrs. Parker enjoyed needle work, cake decorating, gardening and flowers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bryan Trotter officiating.

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Gilead Baptist Church Playground Equipment Fund, in care of Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
