Laura "Polly" Starling, 92, of Shelbyville died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

Born July 21, 1915, in Boone County, she was the daughter of Thomas C. and Anna Louise (Roberts) Worland. She married James R. Starling on Oct. 10, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1972.

Survivors include her daughters, Deanna D. Reinhold of Greenfield and Dorcas D. Dorsett of Shelbyville; sons, Tony Sipes of Shelbyville and J. Patrick Starling of Greenwood; sisters, Clara Dwigans of Flat Rock and Sarah Davis of Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Vincent W. Worland, George B. Worland and Thomas C. Worland; sisters, Anna Worland and Mary Wainscott; and one grandson.

Mrs. Starling had been employed at Fort Benjamin Harrison for 32 years, retiring in 1975.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Clearview 76ERs Homemaker Club.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the rosary recited at 3:30 p.m., at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., with the Rev. Chris Craig officiating.

Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery in Shelby County.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shelbyville-Shelby Count Public Library Genealogical Department, in care of Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

We have many fond memories of Laura when she lived at McKay Manor. She was a good friend to our mothers (Madge Gardiner and Jane Brooks). We always enjoyed visiting with her and send our sympathy.
