Marcus Bernard Birdwell Spriggs of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.

Born December 24, 1980 in Bristol, TN, he was the son of Alfred (Rick) and Stephanie Birdwell. He married his wife Tara on July 2, 2008 and she survives, along with two stepchildren, Zyjieous and Natarvia.

Other survivors include his mother and father; brother, Andrew Birdwell of Kansas City, MO; nieces, Anaya Birdwell of Shelbyville, IN; Uncles Arthur and Joniver Spriggs of Shelbyville, IN; Uncles Mark and Otis of Tennessee; niece, Adrianna and nephew, Aden of Kansas City, MO; grandmother, Ruth Spriggs of Shelbyville, Timothy Ray of Shelbyville; and a host of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Otis Spriggs, Sr. of Bristol, TN and grandmother, Lottie Gray of Bristol, VA.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN.

Funeral services will be held at Lee Street Baptist Church in Bristol, VA on Monday, August 25th, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Contributions may be made to Marcus Spriggs Funeral Fund in care of Murphy-Parks Funeral Services.

Words cannot express the sadness in my heart...it hurts to say goodbye to you nephew...you will always be in my heart and in my thoughts and i will always miss you and always love you....rest in peace young soldier I'll see you again...kiss mom and dad for me...i love you....
