Harold Dale Merrick, 63, of Shelbyville died Friday, May 23, 2008, at Peru Hospital in Peru, Ind.

Born Sept. 26, 1944, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Harold E. Merrick and Ruth Richardson. He married Carol Merrick on Sept. 23, 1989, and she survives.

Other survivors include his mother, of Shelbyville; daughters, Carol Merrick (fiancee, Kevin Fox), Gale Merrick and Diana Merrick, all of Shelbyville; son, Ricky Dale Smith of Shelbyville; sisters, Dorothy (husband, James) Mentzer, Bonita (husband, Danny) Dixon and Linda McDaniel, all of Shelbyville, and Susie (husband, Ron) Bolden of Franklin; brothers, Richard Merrick of Indianapolis, Paul (wife, Geraldine) Merrick of Shelbyville and Sam (wife, Mary) Merrick of Fountaintown; grandchildren, Kelsey Fox, Kaylee Fox, Austin Merrick, Travis Merrick, Ricky Dale Smith Jr. and Erica Smith; nephews, Bobby Lee Martin and Nick Dixon; and niece, Danita Findley.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Merrick had been employed with NBCI for several years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Merrick was a member of the Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge.

He was an outdoor sportsman.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Cremation will follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dale Merrick Memorial Fund, in care of Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
