Carroll West Jr., 79, of Shelbyville died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at his home.

Born Oct. 20, 1929, in Somerset, Ky., he was the son of William Henry and Neatie (Hines) West Sr. He married Bertie Rollins on Sept. 1, 1956, and she survives.

Other survivors include his daughters, Kathy Norton of Edinburgh, Carolyn Boucher, Kim Herring and Ellen Radcliff, all of Shelbyville, Rachel Schimpf of Knightstown, Mollie Macy of Rushville, Debbie Stanley and Sherry Ryan, both of Greenfield; and Linda Davis of Idaho; son, Jeff West of Shelbyville; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randall West; daughter, Carol West; five brothers; four sisters; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. West had been a stone quarry construction worker.

He had served in the Kentucky National Guard.

Mr. West's favorite pastime was hunting and fishing.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Todd Stocklin officiating.

Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in Rush County, with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.

My prayers and thoughts are with you, Carroll was a wonderful person, we always talked about fishing. He will be missed deeply.

Sorry to hear of Uncle Junior's passing i know he will be greatly missed he was always one of my favorites love and sympathy to the whole family
