Esther Schaf, 98, of Indianapolis, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at Lockefiled Village in Indianapolis.

Born May 5, 1910, in Flat Rock, she was the daughter of Arthur and Matilda (Law) Andrews. She married Stanley Schaf on May 31, 1930, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1992.

Survivors include her son, Donald Schaf of Shelbyville; brother, Tom Andrews; grandchildren, Stephen Schaf and Stephanie Metz; and great grandchildren, Kirbie, Riley, Truman and Tennyson.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, grandson Michael Metz and great-grandson Abrham Metz.

Mrs. Schaf was a homemaker.

She was a member of Beacon Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 30 years.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Flat Rock Cemetery in Shelby County.

Ester,I am sorry you never realy knew how many people loved you and appreciated you. Casey when she was little looked at you as a grandmother and we loved having you at holiday dinners never visited as much as we should have and I regret that. I hope that others will feel the same as me and visit those we love that can't get out more often and let them know they are loved. I knew Esther for many years when we were both members of Beacon Baptist Church. My condolences to her family.
