Gertrude Johnson, 88, of Shelbyville died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Heritage House Convalescent Center.
Born Nov. 18, 1919, in Yazoo, Miss., she was the daughter of Sylvester and Zadie (Rembert) Euell. She married J.D. Johnson in 1944, and he preceded her in death in 1957.
Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Ann Owens of Shelbyville and Gloria DeBerry of Chicago, Ill.; son, Bobby Euell of Shelbyville; 24 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter, two sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and retired as a housekeeper from Sheraton Hotel in Chicago, after 11 years of service.
Her hobbies included fishing, bingo and playing cards.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
