Paul Edward Benefiel, 77, of Shelbyville died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at his home.

Born Oct. 23, 1931, in Greensburg, he was the son of George M. and Bessie Mae (Brunner) Benefiel. He married Beverly Anne Skinner on April 10, 1976, and she survives.

Other survivors include sons, Chris Goode and Glen Benefiel, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Trudy Goode and Tanya Benefiel, both of Shelbyville; a brother, Russel Benefiel of Shelbyville; sisters, Freda Bartlett and Lois Scroggham, both of Shelbyville; and grandchildren, Justin, Riley, Josh, Johnthon, Shawn, Bethany, Sean, Steven, Nichole and Lindsey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Debbie Benefiel; brothers, Arnold Benefiel, George Benefiel and Ernie Benefiel; and sisters, Helen Hite, Alice Hutcherson, Virginia Baker and Dorothy Cramer.

Mr. Benefiel had been the van driver for Shelby Senior Services.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations at 3 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A private family burial will be at a later date.

Paul was a very, very nice person.

Bev, I'am so sorry to hear of your loss. I just found out online. Paul was a good man and I know he will be missed. If you need me you can call me @ 392-2818 or I live @ 209 W. South St.
