Larry W. Markley Sawyer, 53, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008 at his home.

Born Oct. 7, 1955, in Columbus, he was the son of Chester Sawyer and Monna Sue (Christian) Markley.

Survivors include his parents, Bob and Sue Markley of Shelbyville; father of Florida; daughter, Desirae Markley of Indianapolis; son, Brandon Sawyer of Palmyra; brothers, Mark (wife, Margie) Markley and David (wife, Sue) Markley both of Shelbyville, and Mike (wife, Stacey) Markley of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Lynn Sawyer-Lewis of Indianapolis, Ruth Nelsen of Shelbyville, and Kathy Bowman of Noblesville; granddaughter, Madalyna Day of Indianapolis; grandmother, Katherine Burton of Shelbyville; and fiancee, Alisa Johnson of Shelbyville.

Mr. Sawyer was a truck driver and had a degree in small engine repair.

He enjoyed playing and listening to music, home design, carpentry and small engine repair.

Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednedsay at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Robert Langdon and Jim Stephens officiating.

Burial will be in Star Cemetery in Decatur County.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shelby County, 425 E. Washington St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

i wish to express my deepest sorrow at the loss of such a wonderful person as larry. i grew up around larry he was the one that found humor in place of dispair.may you rest in peace old friend. i only found out today of larrys death or i would have been there in person to say farewell.
