Clarence W. Barlowe, 81, of Shelbyville died Monday, March 24, 2008, at Heritage House Convalescent Center.

Born April 12, 1926, in Glasgow, Ky., he was the son of William Clarence Barlowe and Dovie (Barber) Martin. He married Dora Easton on Dec., 12, 1991, and she survives.

Other survivors include his daughters, Delisa Briggs, Debra Kay Barlowe, Kivya Lomax and Kalista E. Sarver; sons, William Deronny Barlowe and Rodney L. Smith; brothers, Nugene Barlow, Jerry Barlow, Willie Barlow, Bobby Barlow, Charles Barlow and James Paul Barlow; sisters, Helen Barlow, Rachel Barlow, Charlene Barlow and Shirley Barlow; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jacquine Barlowe-Thurston; brothers, Roy Barlow and George Barlow; and one grandchild.

Mr. Barlowe had been a line foreman for GMAC, retiring in 1985, then became manager of Mr. C Liquor Store in Indianapolis.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Mr. Barlowe was a member of Second Baptist Church in Shelbyville; Elks Club, 0-5 Club and All-star Club, all in Indianapolis.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tony Lambert officiating.

Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.
