John M. Humphreys, 79, of Shelbyville died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital & Health Centers in Indianapolis.
Born Sept. 8, 1928, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Dallas O. and Helen I. (Stump) Humphreys. He married Barbara Fisher on Sept. 2, 1951, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 1998.
Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly A. Humphreys of Shelbyville; sons, Jay E. (wife, Ann) Humphreys of Marritt Island, Fla., Scott A. Humphreys of New Palestine and David P. (wife, Karen) Humphreys of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kyle Humphreys, Jordan Humphreys, Nolan Humphreys, Garrett Humphreys, Tony Gibbs and Christopher Gibbs; and great-grandchildren, London Gibbs and GracieAnnMarie Humphreys.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Catherine Barnes.
Mr. Humphreys had been employed at C.R. Pouley Printing in Indianapolis for 34 years; owner and operator of Blue River Plastics for five years; and then employed by KBS for six years, retiring in 2006.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Humphreys graduated from Speedway High School.
He was a member of Fairland Christian Church.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Fairland Christian Church, 109 S. Mulberry St. in Fairland.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Michael Rogers officiating.
Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., is handling the arrangements.
