Arthur E. "Gene" Mount, 66, of Shelbyville died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Major Hospital.
Born July 23, 1943, in Knoxville, Tenn., he was the son of Wilbur F. Mount and Matalia (Miller) Davis. He married Alice Marie Roach on Jan. 28, 1966, and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Jackie (husband, Bill) Southworth, Norma Brown, Bonnie (husband, Scott) Henderson and Rebecca (husband, Billy) Wise, all of Shelbyville; sons, Robert (wife, Laura) Mount and William (wife, Terri) Brown, both of Shelbyville; brothers, Larry Kiskaden, Donnie (wife, Marsha) Kiskaden and Ricky Mount; sisters, Betty Abbott, Wilma (husband, Frank) Corn, Patricia Newhouse, Sally (husband, Joe) Wilhelm, Becky (husband, Bill) Martin, Connie Williams and Vicki (husband, Jim) Humphrey; and grandchildren, John Southworth, Josh Southworth, Doug Brown, Heather Brown, Brittany Brown, Jacob Mount and Peyton Mount, all of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard Mount, Jerry Mount and Wayne Mount; and grandchildren, Misty Self, Bradley Walls and Amber Brown.
Mr. Mount had been employed with Builders Lumber Co., retiring after 16 years of service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Mount was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge and American Legion Post No. 70.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Colman Williams officiating.
Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens, with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arthur E. Mount Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
