Janice L. McDaniel, 69, of Hope died Friday, June 19, 2009, in English, Ind., at the home of her daughter, where she had been living since her illness.
Born May 13, 1940, in Mansville, Ky., she was the daughter of Latt and Flossie Kay (Bright) Garrett.
Survivors include her daughters, Joni Kay (husband, Tony) Shaw of Shelbyville, Carlene (husband, Darwin) Staker of Whiteland, Cynthia D. Campbell and Patricia (husband, Ed) Reyling, both of English; son, John W. (wife, Jamie) McDaniel of Taswell; sisters, Brenda (husband, Robbie) Brown of Grantsburg and Jeanetta (husband, Jim) Johnson of Shepherdsville, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and best friend and companion, Gorden Ricketts, who she has lived with for the past 20-some years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Kenneth McDaniel.
Ms. McDaniel worked at Admiral Corp.
She enjoyed canning food, sewing and most of all her gardening.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Duncan officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Marengo.
