James Herman Smith, 64, of Shelbyville died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at his home.

Born July 10, 1945, in Jacksonville, Fla., he was the son of Floyd Herman and Violet (Ruddick) Smith. He married Mary Elizabeth Dillinger on July 26, 1976, and she survives.

Other survivors include his sons, Benjamin (wife, Lesley) Smith and James Allen Smith, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Tina (husband, Larry) Pogue and Terri Kuhn, both of Shelbyville; brothers, Cecil (wife, Becky) Smith of Rushville and Robert (wife, Judy) Smith of Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Mr. Smith was a heavy equipment operator for Local 103, until his retirement.

He was a member of Faith Trinity Pentecostal Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Faith Trinity Pentecostal Church, 505 W. Pennsylvania St.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Perry Fouts officiating.

Services have been entrusted to Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

Am sorry that my cousin is gone . When we were young we did crazy things together I will always have

Jimbo, you had a great ride and I hope you have found all of the answers to this great journey we are all on.

Jimbo was a great friend. I am glad I got to see him a few weeks ago. He will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to his family.

Thinking back on the old days-brings a smile. Jimbo was a character and always knew how to make people laugh and could sure get a party started!
We were sorry to hear of his passing-please know his old friends are thinking of you all during this time.
