Kathryn L. Markley-Burton, 93, of Shelbyville died Sept. 12, 2009, at Heritage House Convalescent Center.
Born Jan. 11, 1916, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Clarence and Edna (Stine) Emerick. She married Maurice Markley on June 1, 1932, and he preceded her in death on March 4, 1969. She married Glen Burton on May 13, 1982, and he preceded in death on July 13, 2005.
Survivors included her son, Bob (wife, Sue) Markley of Shelbyville; daughter, Karen (husband, Norman) Ivie of Shelbyville; and grandchildren, Greg Crouse, Larry Sawyer, Mark Markley, David Markley, Mike Markley, Billy Markley, Tim Markley, Marilyn Markley, Mary Lynn Markley, Mickey Markley; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William Markley; a brother, Morris Emerick; a sister, LaVeda Emerick; a granddaughter; and a grandson.
Mrs. Burton had worked at the Garment Factory for several years and retired from Major Hospital after 18 years of service.
She was a member of Little Blue River Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Langdon officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
