Ruth E. Hobbs, 79, of Greencastle died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle.

Born Feb. 1, 1929, in Rush County, she was the daughter of Albert and Fannie Mae (Redd) Stevens. She married Clyde Hobbs Jr. on Jan. 16, 1946 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1993. She married Danny Elmore, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Hobbs of Shelbyville and Scott Hobbs of St. Paul; daughters, Brenda (husband, Tom) Brewer and Leigh Ann Hobbs, both of Cloverdale, Peggy (husband, Dwight) Carrier of Fairland; brother, Robert Stevens, Shelbyville; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Stevens; and one grandchild.

Mrs. Hobbs had been employed with several manufacturing companies, the latest one being Continental Kitchen.

She was a member of Grace Wesleyan Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Reverend Joseph Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
