Donald Ray "D.J." Price, 60, of Shelbyville died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Major Hospital.
Born Jan. 7, 1949, in Eminence, Ky., he was the son of Joseph Daniel and Hallie Mae (Johnson) Price. He married Patricia Smith on Sept. 26, 1998, and she survives.
Other survivors include his son, Jeremy Price of Franklin; stepson, Sterling Coit of Columbus, IN; stepdaughter, Karriejoi Coit of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Joseph Price of Los Angles, Calif.; sisters, Mary Young-Bey of Columbus, Ind., Elnora Clay and Willie Mahan, both of Louisville, Ky., and Delois Fields of Campbellsburg, Ky.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James Kenneth Price and Gilbert Thomas Price.
Mr. Price had been employed at K.S. Bearings in Greensburg for 30 years and retired from Shelbyville Central Schools.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the deacon board, president of the Southeastern District Brotherhood, and Sunday school and BTU teacher.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Second Baptist Church, 34 W. Hendricks St.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at the church, with Pastor Tony Lambert officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.
