Bonnie L. McCorkle, 77, of Shelbyville, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at Major Hospital.
Born June 22, 1932, in Barbourville, Ky., she was the daughter of Archie and Ellen (Bolen) Hughes. She married Kenneth McCorkle Sr. on June 27, 1950, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 2001.
Survivors include daughters, Carol (husband, Andy) Andrews, Brenda (husband, Larry) Lummis, Cathy (husband, Dave) Good and Bridgett (husband, Wayne) Powell, all of Shelbyville, and Darlene (husband, Allen) Burton and Pam (husband, Rick) Merriman, both of Columbus; sons, Pete McCorkle, Jamie McCorkle and Charles (wife, Tracy) McCorkle, all of Shelbyville; sister, Amanda Jones, and brother, James Hughes, both of Indianapolis; sisters, Theda Wilhelm and Mary Sonderman, both of Tampa, Fla.; brothers-in-law Ed A.G. (wife, Nadine) McCorkle and Al Ball; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Archie McCorkle and Kenneth McCorkle Jr.; a daughter, Linda Griffith; two brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. McCorkle was a homemaker.
Her home was always open for anyone that needed food or a place to call home, and everyone called her "Mom." Gardening was her favorite pastime.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Tracy Gross.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
