Thomas Dale Skillman, 70, of Shelbyville died Sunday, April 11, 2010, at his home.

Born Dec. 20, 1939, in Shelbyville, he was the son of William and Lucille (Benefiel) Skillman. He married Barbara J. Tucker on July 27, 1974, and she survives.

Other survivors include his daughters, Amanda (husband, Gary) Karnes of Shelbyville, Carol (husband, Bill) Kelsheimer of Terre Haute and Lori (husband, Wayne) Kelsheimer of Bradley, Ill.; son, Richard Skillman of Shelbyville; sisters, Mary Roy of Greenfield, Pat Hutchinson of Shelbyville and JoAnn Skillman of Florida; brothers, Robert Skillman of Florida, James Skillman of Shelbyville and Steven Skillman of North Carolina; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn Imel.

Mr. Skillman retired from Meridian Automotive.

He was a member of the American Legion and Eagles lodges.

Mr. Skillman enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Ewick officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery, with military rites conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, 911 E. 86th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
