James Wayne "Jim" Grimme Sr., 74, of Shelbyville died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at his home.
Born Oct. 11, 1935, in Newport, Ky., he was the son of Raymond and Ruth (Kennedy) Grimme. He married Jacqueline "Jackie" Burger on Jan. 28, 1956, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Jim Grimme Jr. of Marion, Jeff (wife, Brenda) Grimme and Jerry Grimme, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Jarod Grimme, Coy Grimme, Breanna Grimme, Jay Grimme, Paige Grimme and Caitlyn Grimme; and great-grandchild, Brooks Grimme.
Mr. Grimme was employed with A&P grocery stores for 24 years, working his way up to a manager's position. He then went to work for Knauf Insulation as an operator in the pipe department, retiring Nov. 30, 1997.
He had been a coach for Babe Ruth baseball for several years, during the time his sons were growing up.
Mr. Grimme was a member of Coachmen Camping Club and loved to fish.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
