Philip Wray Phares, 75 of Shelbyville, IN passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville, IN.

He was born on Friday, May 9, 1941 in Shelbyville, IN.   He was the son of Kenneth Phares and Helen (Reed) Phares. 

Philip married Sandra Phares on  July 10, 1980 she survives.

Philip is survived by sons: Pat (Debbie) Phares, Rushville, Kenny (Tammy) Phares,  Ronald Phares, Donald Phares of Shelbyville,  Arthur (Fiancé Tanya) Phares, Brown County,  daughter: Mary Christina (Jeff) Scott of Shelbyville, brothers: David (Mary Jo) Phares,  Mickey (Mary) Phares of Shelbyville, 
sisters: Donna (Sam) Frogge, NC, Patty (Jamie) Meade, FL,  15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents.

Philip was a former member of Eagles Lodge #766. He was an avid fan of all
sports.  He treasured all the times he spent with his children especially his grandchildren.  He was blessed to spend the past 36 years with his precious sweetheart,

Visitation will be Saturday, January 07, 2017 from  10:00 AM to1:00 PM at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN.

Funeral service will be follow at 1:00 PM  at the funeral home with Pastor Edwin Mohr officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Phares.

So sorry to learn of Phil's passing. I've known Phil as his health insurance agent since 2006. Always enjoyed visiting with him and Sandy. He always had a joke to tell or something to laugh about and was always very nice to converse with. He will be sorely missed. RIP Phil and thank you Sir for your service to our great country!

I worked with Phil for many years at Knauf . He was very good at his job, which made my job as his Maintenance man easier . Phil could laugh so hard at something that he'd run out of breath , which just added to the laughing.
I'm saddened by his passing and wish the best for the Phares family
