David Allen Burton, 53, of Shelbyville died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at his residence.

Born June 7, 1957, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Alvin Burton and Betty G. (Holt) Burton Clary. He married Kelly Burton on June 4, 1987, and she survives.

Other survivors include daughters, Michelle (Brandon) Burton and Kristy (Matt) Burton, both of Shelbyville; son, David (Kimmie) Burton of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Jaylin Butler, Derrick Burton, Aireus Butler, Jasmine Thompson, Myklynn Burton and Lukas Metelko, all of Shelbyville; sisters, Jean (husband, Jim) Parker of Greensburg, Barbara Sue (husband, Jerry) Hargett of Alliance, Ohio, and Phyllis Miller of Shelbyville; stepbrothers Danny Clary and David Clary, both of Shelby County; stepsister Bev Clary of Hammond; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Raymond Clary; and a stepbrother.

Mr. Burton was a lifetime resident of Shelby County and a 1974 graduate of Triton Central High School.

He had been employed in construction work by AK&M Trenching, retiring in 2001.

Mr. Burton loved to fish and support the Indianapolis Colts.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Annette Crosby and Pastor Merry Popplewell officiating.

Inurnment will be at a later date.

I am so sorry to hear about David. I wasn''t able to make either the showing or the funeral due to illness of my own, but want you guys to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
