Michael E. Comstock, 67, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 26, 1948, in Shelbyville, the son of George Comstock Jr. and Mary (Shelton) Comstock. Michael married Flora (Gibson) Comstock on June 09, 1977, and she survives.  Michael is also survived by his sons, Shawn Comstock of Rush County; and Jeffrey Chaney and wife, Stacy, of Shelbyville; five grandchildren; brothers: Ronny Comstock and wife, Linda, of Louisiana; and Rick Comstock and wife, Angie, of Shelbyville; and sister, Cora Briggs of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Comstock; brother, Danny Comstock; and sister, Mary Joe Hendrickson.

Michael served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War Era.  He retired from Cummins as a mechanical engineer, after 27 years of service.  He was a true outdoorsman always looking forward to his hunting trips out west. His big interests were big guns and big bullets. Patsy Cline and Roy Orbison were his idols. He was a true family man always looking forward to family activities. He had great compassion for his cat, Lucy. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.  Funeral services will follow at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with his brother, Ronnie Comstock, officiating.  Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Comstock.
