Charley Ray Palmer, 81, of Shelbyville died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Heritage House in Shelbyville.

He was born Friday, March 8, 1935, in Fairland. He was the son of Norman H. Palmer and Loular Hazel (Hardwick) Palmer.

Charley married Mary Ann Sorrell Aug. 21, 1954, and she precedes him in death.

Surviving are two sons Charles R. Palmer and his wife Janet of Indianapolis, Jerry K. Palmer and his wife Renee of Waldron; four daughters Patricia Beals and her husband Donald of Shelbyville, Mary Vanessa Burton of Shelbyville, Kay R. Settles and her husband Mark of Fountaintown, and Kelly Diane Paddon and her significant other Georgeo Michaelidis of Columbus. Mr. Palmer also left behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Charley is preceded in death by his son-in-law Jerry Burton, grandson Jeremy Todd Baatz, great grandson Matthew Mowrey and brother Carl Lakey Palmer.

Charley lived in Fairland all his life until he became ill and moved into the Heritage House in Shelbyville.

Charley worked at Knauf Fiberglass and Patterson Construction for a number of years. He has been a member of the Calvary Baptist Church for a number of years.

Charley loved Hunting and going to garage sales.

Visitation will be from 4- to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St. Shelbyville, IN.

The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church in Fairland, 4666 N. Michigan Rd. Fairland, IN, with Robert Prather officiating. Interment will be at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.
