Norma Jean Boales, 90, of Manilla, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at Morristown Manor in Morristown.

 

She was born on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1926 in Hancock, Illinois, the daughter of William H. Russell and Thelma Ruth Knipe.

 

Norma married James Edward Riddle Sr. He preceded her in death. She then married Earnest Clayton Boales on Sept. 14, 1962. He preceded her in death as well. 

 

She is survived by her son Jesse Riddle and his wife Cathy; daughters Ruth Whiteside and her husband Terry, Thelma Bledsoe and her husband Lonnie, Juanita Riddle, of Ohio, Pansy Weaver and her husband Paul, of Manilla; brothers Duane Russell and Merlin Russell; sisters Kathleen Dietsch, Betty Harris, Donna Johnson, Juanita Sandford and Darlene Hawkins; grandchildren Tammy (Riddle) Pearson, Terry Whiteside, Troy Whiteside, Nina (Riddle) Garza, Shane Riddle, T.J. Riddle, Derrick Riddle, Lonnie Bledsoe, Christina Bledsoe, Jeremy Riddle, Tabitha Riddle, James Cunningham, Ashley Cunningham, Bobby (B.J.) Weaver and Leo (Tony) Weaver; step grandchildren  Emily (Weaver) "Beal" Nelis and Susan (Weaver) Nicholas; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents Samuel & Mary (Mapes) Russell and Edward & Nelli Knipe; siblings William Russell, Willard Russell and Larry Russell; children James Edward Riddle Jr. and William Richard Riddle; sister Karen Knowles; and grandson Shawn Riddle.

 

Norma took great pride in her family and always enjoyed cooking for them. She always looked forward to her trips to the lake so she could enjoy fishing, which was one of her favorite leisure activities. During her alone time, she loved bird watching and gardening.

 

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St. Shelbyville, IN. 

 

The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. 

 

Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mrs. Boales.
