Dorothy J. Shaw

Dorothy J. "Aunt Dort" Shaw, 89, of Fairland, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at her sister’s residence.

Born Aug. 20, 1926, in London, she was the daughter of Don House and Hazel (Noe) House

She married Wayne N. Shaw on Nov. 24, 1951, and he preceded her in death Feb. 27, 1983.

She is survived by sister, Marjorie Elmore of Fairland; sister-in-law, Betty Shaw of Flat Rock; and three special nieces, Gloria Judah, Jenice Brown and Marcia Linton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Moral Township High School.

Dorothy worked for Uniroyal for 30 years. 

She was the oldest living member of Shelby County Western Riders. She liked to camp in Brown County.

Dorothy was also an honorary member of Fairland Volunteer Fire Department, where she was a very active volunteer.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at the funeral home, with Minister Joel Delashmit officiating.

Burial will be at London Cemetery in Shelby County.

Memorial contributions may be given to Fairland Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 225, Fairland, IN 46126; or Franciscan Alliance Foundation, 5255 E. Stop 11 Road, Suite 245, Indianapolis, IN 46237.

Enjoyed knowing aunt Dort, her support to the fire dept. will always be remembered. She will be missed by the Fairland community.
