Natalie J. Baugher, 57, of Shelbyville, our very heart and soul, passed in peace Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.

Born Feb. 5, 1959, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of the late Robert McNew and Sara (Lux) Martin.

Surviving are a son, Nolan A. Conger of Shelbyville; daughters, Jesica S. Conger and Eryn M. Conger, both of Bloomington; brothers, Robert K. McNew of Shelbyville, Michael (Mitzi) McNew, and Christopher S. McNew; sister, Kae Ann Friend of Indianapolis; and stepsister, Lisa Kraner.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Denese Gibson, and stepbrother, Robert L. Martin.

Nat was a deeply devoted daughter, sister, mother, friend and coworker, whose generosity knew no limits. She rarely did much for herself, for her primary concern was always the well-being of others. Nat dedicated her very heart and soul to the needs of her family and friends, as well as to her fellow co-workers and employers. Her work ethic was second to none and she often held down more than one job to adequately provide for her family. She also embodied remarkable compassion for each person she ever crossed paths with and for every 911 call she ever handled. It is often said that Nat “knew no enemies,” for all those who had the pleasure of knowing her, rant and rave about her warm, loving presence.

In her solitude, her greatest joy was spending time in nature, where she created lavish gardens of flowers and ornate displays of outdoor decor. She took such pride in her yardwork and could turn any house into a true home with her knack for decorating. Nat also had a special connection with her beloved pets throughout the years and it was a common joke that those animals always ate better than she did, as their meal times were her first priority!

Nat was the perfect example of how to live by the Golden Rule, to do to others as you would have done to yourself. For that very reason, and so many more, she will be greatly missed, and more importantly, treasured deeply within us all.

A gathering of friends will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Chaplain Jason Quellhorst and Chaplain Sharon Adams officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Cancer Association of Shelby County, P.O. Box 844, Shelbyville, IN 46176; or the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter, 705 Hale Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Ms. Baugher.

My heart broke at the sad news. Nat was truly a kind soul. My summers wont be the same without talking to her at the fence,or enjoying a dip in the pool with no kiddos to splash us.

I only met Natalie once at the Monroe County Fairgrounds listening to her highly talented daughter Eryn performing with "Those Lazy Cabineers," but I know Natalie must have been an extremely special lady because both her daughters are dear friends of mine I worked with at Cracker Barrel in Bloomington for one year! Natalie's legacy is having two special daughters I was thoroughly blessed to meet and befriend so well as an outsider from the state of Texas!
