Paul B Harpring, 81 of Shelbyville, Indiana passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Born June 17, 1934 in Hamburg (Franklin County), Indiana, he was the son of the late William Harpring and the late Katherine Effing  Harpring.

He married Edna Lambert  Harpring on May 12, 1956 and she survives.

Also surviving are son, Ronald Harpring of Shelbyville, IN, daughters, Marlene (Charles) Hague of Waldron, IN and Diane (Gregg) Erickson of Shelbyville, IN, grandsons, Brandon Hague of Indianapolis, Justin (Diana) Hague of Connersville, Kyle (Megan) Erickson, Moorsville, granddaughter, Katie Erickson, of Shelbyville, great-grandsons, Jacob Coffey, and Seth Coffey both of Connersville, great-granddaughter, Harper Hague of Connersville, sisters, Mary (John) Veerkamp of Shelbyville, IN, Betty (Maurice) Brown of Clarksburg, IN and Rita (Louis) Koors of Greensburg, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leonard Harpring and Richard Harpring, sister, Josephine Schepers.

Paul served in the U.S. Army for two years where he honed his automotive skills.  Those skills served him well for many years while he owned and operated filling stations in Shelbyville.  Later he worked for J & J Tire and retired from Goodyear Tire.  Many people came to Paul for work on their vehicles because he was honest and trustworthy.

His many interests and activities included golfing, fishing, bowling, camping, and softball.  Ever a strong competitor, he also thoroughly enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends.  Euchre was his game of choice.  He would often order up a jack to his opponent with a nine spot in his hand denying them the trump call.  His famous saying was, "I'd rather give them two points by euchring me than letting them play alone and get four points."

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 127 E. Broadway Shelbyville, Indiana 46176 with Father Aaron Pfaff and Father Paul Landwerlen officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Harpring.
