Clarence E. "Bud" Smith, 95, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.

He was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Indianapolis, to James and Carrie (Bennett) Smith. He married Dorothy Weakley on Jan. 2, 1945, and she preceded him in death Oct. 6, 2014.

Surviving are daughters: Vicki Sleeth of Tucson, Arizona; and Paula Hilderbrand and husband, Harold, of Shelbyville; grandchildren: Dawn Barnes and husband, John, of Flat Rock; Mandy Wainscott of Shelbyville; Tonya Smith and husband, Danny, of Whiteland; and Misty Sleeth of Shelbyville; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

He worked at Allison Transmission for 42 years, retiring in 2003.

Mr. Smith was a member of Vine Street Methodist Church where he served as superintendent. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW.

Traveling was a favorite pastime. He loved watching NASCAR. His favorite driver was Richard Petty.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville.

A funeral service will at noon Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Midwest Regional Office, 6500 Technology Drive, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.

Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the service for Mr. Smith.
