Leona "Onie" Drake, 82, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at Sugar Creek Nursing Home and Rehab in Greenfield.
Born Feb. 15, 1933, in Wax, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Jessie Clemons and Ida (Lush) Clemons. Mrs. Drake married George Higdon and he preceded her in death. She then married Curtis Drake and he also preceded her in death.
Leona is survived by sons: Roger Higdon of Shelbyville; and James P. Higdon and wife, Darlene, of Flat Rock; daughter, Rita Hutcherson of Shelbyville; stepsons, Steve Drake, Rick Drake and Phil Drake; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers; Sammy Clemons, Paul Clemons and Richard Clemons; and sisters, Rudell Higdon, Viena Greenwell, Angie Wright, Joanne Sutton and Rosetta Powers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and siblings, Irene Clemons, Albert Clemons, Leo Clemons and Curtis Clemons.
Mrs. Drake retired from Nickel Nook. She was a homemaker and loved collecting knick-knacks.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at the funeral home, with Robert Prather officiating.
Burial will be at Flat Rock Cemetery
Memorial contributions honoring Onie may be given to Murphy-Parks Funeral Service to assist the family with funeral expenses.
Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mrs. Drake.
