Sarah J. Hitchcock Coffey, 73, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.

Born Nov. 10, 1941, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Robert Lee and Pansy (Cherry) Lee. She was married to William E. "Bill" Hitchcock, and he preceded her in death in 1993. She then married Archie Coffey on June 3, 2000, and he survives.

She is also survived by five children: Shaun Killen and wife, Sandy; Brenda Elliot and husband, Robert; Eric Killen, all of Shelbyville; Briana Peck and husband, Joe, of Blaine, Washington; and Billy Hitchcock and wife, Jan, of Shelbyville; three stepchildren: Kevin Coffey and wife, Donna, of North Carolina; Leianna Kent and husband, Bill; and Susan Aulby and husband, Jay, both of Shelbyville; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Kathy Cassidy and husband, Bert; Betty Bassett; and Michael Lee and wife, Jenny, all of Shelbyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William E. "Bill" Hitchcock; sister, Lucresia Ray; brothers, Mark Lee and Bobby Lee; and an infant brother.

Mrs. Coffey retired from Kroger.

She served as a foster parent for 32 children.

She cherished the time she spent doing yard work and driving her John Deere Tractor.

She was a true disciple of her Lord Jesus Christ as a volunteer, especially at Major Hospital for 11 years.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at Lewis Creek Baptist Church, 5998 S. State Road 9, Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church with, the Revs. John Carlston and Edwin Mohr officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
