Syble Marie West, 83 of Shelbyville, Indiana died on Friday, August 7, 2015, at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She was born on May 15, 1932 in Somerset, Kentucky, to the parents of Walter and Zula (Woodall) Lay.

She married William Henry West on January 18, 1947 and he preceded her in death on March 11, 2005.

She retired from Arvins Corporation,  prior to that she was employed by KCL Corporation.

She was a member of Victory Fellowship Church Of God. She was a true believer of her Lord Jesus Christ and she enjoyed her Christian Gospel music. She loved to raise her farm animals and participate in the family horse racing events. She will always be remembered for her homemade Apple Butter.

Surviving are son, William “Bill” West of Shelbyville, IN, daughter, Patty Jo Kessler of Shelbyville, , brothers, Edward Lay of Somerset, KY and Clarence "Pete" Woodall of Shelbyville, , sisters, Josephine Hall of Greenwood, and Shirley Bailey of Shelbyville, grandchildren William Timothy, Robby Dwain, and Jerry Allen West, Jenna Marie Thurston. Several great-grandchildren and great- great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Bill Lay, Henry Lay, Carl Woodall and William Kessler, sisters, Francis Loveless and Linda Girdler; and nephew Reverend Travis Girdler.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 10, 2015, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday August 11, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Reverends Mark Joplin and Jim Stephens officiating.

Burial will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery, Shelbyville, IN.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Victory Fellowship Church Of God.

Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mrs. West.

Our prayers are with all family members. I remember Syble as always cheerful and easy to talk to. We will miss her; but, always remembered.
