James E. Montgomery, 75, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at his residence.

Born Jan. 10, 1940, in Urmeyville, IN, he was the son of the late James Montgomery and the late Mary (Mann) Montgomery. He married Donna Sue Cole on June 11, 1960, and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are son, Mike Montgomery and wife,Andrea, of Shelbyville; daughters, Mary Ann Vandiver and husband, Robert, of Shelbyville; and Debra Barton and husband, Dean, of Waldron; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Montgomery of Shelbyville; and sister, Anne Dake of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, two sisters and three brothers.

Mr. Montgomery was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He retired from Wheeler Corporation.

He was a member of the Shelbyville Sportsmens Club.

Mr. Montgomery enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and music.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville, with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.

Memorial contributions may be made to the James E. Montgomery Funeral Fund in care of the funeral home.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Montgomery.

To all of the Montgomery family, I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of Jim, I'm sure he will be missed. My thoughts are with all of you as you come to terms with his passing and recall the good times shared over the years. Love to all of you and I hope to see you again in the not-too-distant future.
