James R Johnson, 76, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Heritage House in Shelbyville.

Born July 26, 1938, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he was the son of James B. Johnson and Mary Helen (Chasteen) Johnson. He was married to Patricia Ann Smith, and she preceded him in death in August 2012.

He is survived by sons, Kyle Johnson of Shelbyville and Jeff Johnson of Sullivan; brother, Ralph Johnson and wife, Valerie, of Clearwater, Florida; and grandchildren, Trey and Haley Johnson of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister, Shirley Ann Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was an airman 1st class in the U.S. Air Force.

He was in construction and an electrician. He was a former member of IBW Local 760.

Mr. Johnson enjoyed his retirement.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.

Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Robert Prather officiating.

Burial will be at Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Franklin.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Johnson.
