Mildred I. Sosbe, 86, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at Major Hospital.

She was born Sept. 1, 1928, to Charles Purtlebaugh and Laura (Rowlett) Purtlebaugh in Shelbyville. She married Walter M. “Pete” Sosbe on Aug. 14, 1946, and he preceded her in death March 5, 2005.

Survivors include four sons: Tom Sosbe and wife, Jan, of Rushville; Jerry Sosbe and wife, Sally, of Shelbyville; Tony Sosbe and wife, Barbara, of Nashville; and Brian Sosbe of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Aaron Purtlebaugh of Michigan, Alvin Purtlebaugh of Kansas, Dwight Purtlebaugh of Indianapolis and Glenn Purtlebaugh of Shelbyville; and three sisters, Mary Come of Shelbyville, Betty Skidmore of North Carolina and Ruth Gaines of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by one son, four sisters, one brother and two great-grandsons.

Mrs. Sosbe was a 1946 graduate of Waldron High School.

She was a homemaker and past owner of Pinocchio Arts & Crafts Store.

She was a member of Flat Rock Christian Church.

There will be no visitation.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Forest Hill Cemetery, with Tom Sosbe officiating.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mrs. Sosbe.
