Donald J. Winkler, 72, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 11, 1942 to Emerson F. Winkler and Isabelle (Talbert) Winkler Smith.

He married Donna L. LaBarbera, September 30, 1961, and she survives.

Other survivors include his sons, Dale (wife, Lisa) Winkler and Daren (wife, Rhonda) Winkler, and daughters, Dana (husband, Chris) Vorhies and Kelly (husband, Scott) Robinson, all of Shelbyville, IN.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Brady Winkler, Chase Clapp, Kristen Clouse, Kylie Winkler, Brandon Winkler, Dustin Robinson, Kayden Miles, Brooke Vorhies and Lexie Vorhies; great-grandchildren, Jordan Winkler, Lukas Clouse, Londyn Clouse and Ava Vorhies; sisters Donna Blocher and Linda (Dallas) Hamer; and brother, Ronnie Winkler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Winkler.

He worked at Ford Motor Company for 34 years.  Several years after his retirment, he worked at Sharp's Woodshop.

Mr. Winkler was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph Social Club.

He was an avid golfer and member of Clifty Creek Golf Club.  Mr. Winkler enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

Mr. Winkler was a family man first and foremost.


Visitation will be Monday, May 11, from 4-8 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.

The rosary will be recited Monday, May 11 at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, May 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Funeral directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Winkler.
